OK. I hold my hands up. This is an unashamed plug for the return of a brilliant BBC series that just keeps getting better. And this is a picture of the crew and some of the cast who make it so.

The first scene opens as a man swims across the bay and emerges from the sea, water droplets glistening on his bare muscular torso.

Yes, It’s Aiden! …And he still hasn’t found his shirt.

Never mind, I’m sure it won’t spoil female fans’ enjoyment of the fourth series of Poldark. The high drama, charismatic characters, humour, and spectacular Cornish scenery should be back on our screens on Sunday (June 10)

These eight episodes are based mainly on the seventh of Winston Graham’s 12 Poldark novels, The Angry Tide, so if they’re sticking to the script, I’ll know what happens in the coming series since I’ve read all the books – and watched the DVD’s of the BBB’s first version of Poldark ten thousand times. (I still love that first version with the brilliant Robin Ellis)

In series 4, unable to ignore his social conscious any longer, Ross finally accepts a nomination to launch himself on a political career as an MP. He’s off to London to take his seat in the house, leaving Demelza to cope with the family, farm, and mine back in Cornwall.

According to the BBC’s press release, in the new series Ross (Aiden Turner) must defend Cornwall from an empowered George Warleggan as he embarks on his political journey. Demelza finds her loyalties torn, Elizabeth tries to strengthen her marriage, Morwenna continues to be oppressed by her husband, Reverend Ossie Whitworth, and the Enyses are tested as never before.

Oooooh – can’t wait!

Some of the cast – Eleanor Tomlinson (Demelza) Jack Farthing (George Warleggan) Luke Norris (Dwight Enys) – will be attending an exclusive ticket only preview of the first episode in a Redruth cinema, in Cornwall on Tuesday (June 5).

Why didn’t I get one of those tickets?

Oh yes, the new Loveday Mystery, A Cornish Ransom, is still available for for pre-order with an exclusive 30% discount. you can grab it here.

Happy reading,

Rena x
