It’s a Wonderful Life

After so many distractions over recent weeks, the pressure is on to finish my current WIP, which is the next in my Loveday Ross Cornish Mysteries Series. The Cornish Series Well, that’s my excuse for being somewhat neglectful of this blog, and for not having prepared any new writerly post this week.
Instead, I’m going to tell you a bit about what’s been going on in my world.
Craig and EstherOur film director son, Craig, is currently working on a new Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, TV series, which is due to be broadcast next Spring. One of my pleasures in watching this show (apart from the fascinating antiques of course) are all those jaunts through our beautiful countryside in those old classic cars that keep breaking down. But when I asked Craig where their travels took them, I was dismayed when he shrugged and dismissed all these lovely venues as ‘just postcodes’.-1

Apparently there is so much pressure to get each episode completed in the allotted time that there is no opportunity to just stand and stare at their surroundings. Once the section of film has been completed, they are all off on the road again to the next venue. Ah, the glamour of working for the telly…

Craig and Barry CryerHere are a few pictures of the lovely folks he’s been working with.

Top picure is Craig with Esther Rantzen. In the right – John  Craven and Johnnie Ball. The other photo shows writer/comedian Barry Cryer.
I can’t not mention that stunning opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Games this week. My home city, Glasgow, did us proud. especially when the stadium erupted as Team Scotland made their entrance. One of those kilted athletes was my lovely nephew, Alan Clyne, who is competing in the Squash events. Good luck Alan!
Scotty dogs, (they’re all here) inflatable Loch Ness monster, Tunnock’s Teacakes, a silver suited Rod Stewart, they were all there, as were the wonderful people of Glasgow. I’m filling up again, but it was great. Lets hope the medals come fast and thick.

And, oh, one more thing… I’ve saved the best for last.

Our precious little grandson, Alexander Joseph, arrived a few days ago. This little boy is our fourth grandchild, but first grandson.

We are blessed – and so very, very proud.

  2. What a lovely post, Rena – so much to celebrate and be thankful for. Congratulations on the safe arrival of your new grandson. I guess we all think other jobs are so glamorous until someone tells you the real story! Good luck to your nephew. And wasn’t that a wonderfully bonkers opening ceremony – filled with warmth and humour!

Thank you, Rosemary. Yes, much to be thankful for indeed. Young Alexander is filling out nicely now and enjoying being thoroughly spoiled by his two big sisters. xx
